Ronan – (Engineer from France living in WNY)
Winner of the HealthyWNY Challenge.
My goal is to: Lose fat, gain 10 pounds of muscles, as well as define my abs and my chest.
I plan to reach this goal by: eating the best food possible first, pushing my lifting limits and compete with others in the workplace workout challenge.
My Motivation: I want to see what I am capable of. I also want to experience a body transformation. Finally, because I am discovering Amercian culture.
The HealthyWNY Challenge and my life.
I was born curious and listening to Ben talking about his challenge stuff forced me to “commit” to the program. Also, being sick of trying to get ripped without achieving any results was a good motivation : I was going to the gym 4 or 5 times a week for 1,5 hour each time. I took advantage of this American culture immersion and strove to reach the targets relentlessly. Let’s talk about physical facts after this 3 months program : 11 pounds lost, an “almost” 6 pack abs (I started from nothing), my sleeves’ t-shirts pretty full –those that make you feel a man – , capability of doing 100 push-ups in a row and a maximum running speed at least 30% higher. Regarding personal life and wellness : I sleep just like a baby, full nights and I can handle a way more stuff at work, whatever the pressure and how long I need to push overtimes. This also allowed me to reorganize my schedule and my priorities toward new activities like learning another language, discovering new sports and making new friends.
Throughout the program I played the game and followed the guidelines the best as I could : sometimes I did not know why I was doing this, other times it was very hard. I am pretty proud : my brother told me “this is not you!”.
During the program HealthyWNY helped me a lot, whether it was on the meetings or while working out with the wellness professionals. I learned many things like doing things the good way it should be done, doing things always differently and “if it does not hurt, it does not work”.
The program needs you to be competitive and challenging yourself constantly to reach the targets. If you do not have objectives, you will not go anywhere and your motivation will be weak. I am fine and confident to write right here that the workplace challenge helps you to fix target, to track progress, to build confidence and achieve your goals toward a wellness life.
Today I will keep going to finish this 6 pack abs : after all this is pretty cool to look at! The program is done and I am ready to use what I learned from this amazing experience. Thank you HealthyWNY.
